STEPFAMILY THERAPY

While stepfamily therapy is similar to Family Therapy in many ways, creating and sustaining a stepfamily comes with its own particular set of challenges. Almost all stepfamilies experience difficulty and become overwhelmed by the undertaking it is to attempt to bring a group of people with different experiences, backgrounds, and emotions together to form a family unit. As you work with your therapist, you will learn about the stepfamily myths to let go of, what expectations are appropriate for stepfamily development, how to establish healthy roles and boundaries, and implement what is needed
to make your stepfamily successful.
*Other issues that are often included in stepfamily therapy, but that can also be worked on as their own reason for therapy include: divorce, separation,
co-parenting, and single-parenting
